SPORTING Keighley wasted a host of easier chances but had to be content with a couple of pearlers in their 2-1 home victory over Wilsden in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League Premier Division.

Both goals came from about 25 yards – Zain Abbas with a superb free-kick and Sikander Khan with an equally fine strike.

Sporting overtook their opponents in the table to climb to fifth, but Cross Hills remained tenth after a 3-1 home defeat to third-placed Settle United, Charles Jennings hitting the consolation effort.

Cowling have risen to sixth in Division One after a fine 4-2 victory at Carleton, who could have gone second.

Luke Barker (2), Jack Stephenson and substitute George Sellars were the marksmen for the visitors, whose man of the match was again Martin Galdes.

Even more emphatic was Cononley Sports' 7-1 triumph at struggling Otley Town in Division Two, while Sutton despatched Earby Town Reserves 9-0 in Division Three.

It was in stark contrast to Sutton's 0-0 draw at Addingham last time out, with the goals coming from man of the match Aiden Robertson (5), Mickey Ruddock (2), Jack Shaw and Ben Wilson.

Sutton, who climbed from fourth to second, are now averaging four goals a game, while Silsden Whitestar Reserves, who have played eight games – two more than Sutton – are fifth after a Bradley Fay hat-trick gave them a 3-0 home win over Horton.

Jamie Abbott, meanwhile, kept up his record of scoring a goal in every Cowling Reserves' match this season (five in five matches), his effort earning them a 1-0 win at Settle United B.

Broomhill Reserves are up to seventh after a 2-0 home victory over basement boys Bradley Reserves, man of the match Bradley Coles and Dale Duff netting.

The most surprising result of the day, however, was Bingley Juniors Reserves' 4-3 victory at leaders Ilkley.

Not only was it only Ilkley's second defeat, it was only Shaun Crooke-inspired Juniors' second string's second triumph.
