SKIPTON Body Repair Centre Craven League clubs generally found the going hard in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup and Trophy.

But Sporting Keighley were an exception, triumphing 7-2 at Bingley in the Trophy to earn a second-round tie at Boroughbridge Reserves on Saturday, November 5.

Goals were scored by man of the match Shazad Khan (4), Mohammed Ammer (2) and Zain Abbas.

Elsewhere Sutton fell 5-1 at Mt St Mary's (West Yorkshire League), while Broomhill crashed 7-1 at Huddersfield Amateur (Yorkshire Amateur League).

In the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup, Cross Hills went down 4-1 at West Riding County Amateur League side Lower Hopton, but there was a Trophy victory for Settle United Reserves, who defeated West Horton 4-3, while Settle's first team also knocked out County Amateur opposition in Ventus Yeadon Celtic (4-1), as did Grassington United, who won a penalty shoot-out 3-0 against Overthorpe Sports Club after a 1-1 draw in open play.

In the league, Silsden Whitestar came through their toughest test of the season, the Premier Division leaders winning 3-2 at second-placed Rolls.

Ben O'Melia (2) and Sam Stanfield gave the Cobbydalers the verdict, while in Division One, Bradley Reserves drew 3-3 at home to Oxenhope Rec in a lower-table battle.

Andrew Hardman (2) and man of the match David Hunt were Bradley's marksmen, with man of the match Chris Galdes and Eddie Pawson being among those to reply.

In Division Two, Cononley Sports rose from seventh to third on the back of a 7-2 home victory over fourth-placed Barnoldswick Barons, while Cross Hills Reserves took a point from a 2-2 draw against visitors Skipton Town Reserves, with Jacob Fryer and Joshua Page netting for the home side.

Basement boys Bradley Reserves turned heads by earning their first point of the season in Division Three in another 2-2 scoreline at third-placed Barlick Wanderers, with Andrew Golding and Carl Tetley being the visitors' heroes.

Third-placed Silsden Whitestar Reserves fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Salts Reserves, with Sam Boothman getting the consolation, while Cowling Reserves rose two places to sixth after a 7-1 thumping of Settle United Thirds.

Gong winner Sam Woolley (4) and Kyle Willis (3) were the scourges of Settle, but there was no joy for Broomhill Reserves, who went down 7-2 to Bingley Juniors Reserves, Phillip Lyness hitting a brace for the losers.
