SILSDEN have been handed a tough tie after they went goal crazy in the Macron Cup.

The Cobbydalers romped to an 8-2 second-round win at Hallmark Security League Premier Division side New Mills and will have to upset the odds again if they are to progress further, having been drawn at home to 1874 Northwich.

The visitors on Saturday, November 26 are currently fourth in the top flight but Silsden showed they cannot be taken lightly by putting New Mills, who were relegated from the Evo-Stik League last season, to the sword.

Leon Smith opened the scoring and, although the Millers hit back through Tunde Owolabi, a brace from Lewis Morgan saw the visitors heading to the break with a 3-1 lead.

After half-time, Nathan Orrell cut the home side’s deficit but Morgan completed his hat-trick, Smith netted his second and Josh Eastwood also bagged a brace before Josh Kaine added another in the last minute as the Cobbydalers romped home.

Silsden visit Holker Old Boys on Saturday in the Reusch Division One Cup first round northern section before hosting Armthorpe Welfare in the West Riding County Cup second round on Tuesday, November 8.
