Bradford Park Avenue Ladies 4 Silsden Ladies 4

SILSDEN are still looking for their first West Riding County Women's League Premier Division victory of the season after a thrilling game.

The Cobbydalers went into it hopeful of breaking their duck but a sluggish start saw them go behind to two early goals.

Park Avenue had an extremely speedy striker leading the line for them and she was proving to be an elusive and difficult proposition for the Silsden back four of Becca Brown, Christina Aston, Katie Driver and returning home favourite Laura Fagan.

But their grit and determination pulled them back into the game just before half-time when Vicky Ellis released Jess Buck, who skipped past two opponents before delivering a delicious cross which Hollie Kirtley neatly tucked away.

Silsden made a great start to the second half when an miscue from Brown released Harriett Persson Brewer, who rounded the onrushing keeper to equalise.

Brewer was at it again moments later when her cross found the head of Ellis, who planted the ball firmly past the outstretched hands of the Bradford keeper.

Charlotte Hutchinson had been brought on to bring her calming influence to the defence and Sophie Gaines was linking up well with the talented Megan Robson-Owens down the right.

Nicola Frankland was providing some steel in the middle and Selina Steventon was finding her targets with some well placed balls behind the defence.

Brewer was convinced she had forced the ball home but the referee ruled the ball had not crossed the line. To add insult to injury, Park Avenue equalised at the other end.

Silsden kept their heads held high and continued to press and, with minutes to go, a fabulous crossfield pass from Gaines put Buck through and she needed no second invitation as she slotted the ball in off the post.

Victory was in sight but in the dying seconds Park Avenue broke and lofted the ball over the advancing Laura Thurling’s head. The ball bounced up and hit the bar, only to be bundled over the line for a devastating late equaliser.

It was still a terrific effort and Silsden's first victory can’t be far off.
