West Riding County FA Trophy second round: Steeton Reserves 3 AFC Horsforth Reserves 1

Steeton progressed to the next round thanks to two late goals at Summerhill Lane.

Goalkeeper Harry Jarman and defender Andy Howland made last-ditch blocks to keep the visitors out early on.

At the other end Joe Park and Jacob Bryceland went close when following up efforts which were fumbled by the Horsforth goalkeeper.

Howland's spectacular overhead bicycle kick missed the target by the narrowest of margins.

In the second half Sam Mash took over in Steeton's goal. Both he and his counterpart were kept busy in the opening minutes.

The deadlock was broken after 53 minutes when home striker Will Knight pounced on a loose ball and rifled it home from the edge of the area.

The lead lasted just two minutes thanks to a superb free-kick and the visitors almost went ahead when a smart pass put their number nine through on goal but Mash snatched the ball from his feet.

Six minutes from time Andy Briggs gave the hosts the lead with a snapshot which went in off the post. In the last minute Oliver Whitham, who had replaced Bryceland, latched on to a pass and defied the challenge of the keeper before stabbing home.

The Chevrons' reward is another home tie on December 3 when they welcome Bradford Gatehouse of the Yorkshire Christian League First Division.

*Steeton first team were given a bye to the third round as opponents Harlow Hill could not raise a team. They face an away tie at Headingley on December 3.
