SILSDEN Whitestar and Sporting Keighley are flying the flag for the Keighley area in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy.

Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League leaders Whitestar won their second-round tie 2-1 at below-par Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division cellar dwellers Grangefield Old Boys.

FC Prince, who are 100 per centers in the Wakefield & District League First Division, will host Whitestar in the next round on Saturday, December 3, when Sporting Keighley will be at home to Garforth Rangers.

The latter fielded a stronger team at Boroughbridge Reserves than in recent weeks and were rewarded with a 4-2 victory, with the hosts lucky to be only 3-1 behind at the interval.

Man of the match Shazad Khan finished off couple of good passing moves to complete his hat-trick, while the other goal was a good finish from outside the box by Nisar Yaseen.

With keeper Mannaan Mehmood injured in the last five minutes and all of the substitutes having been used, right back Habib Aslam had to play in the nets for the last five minutes.

Meanwhile, Skipton LMS are the Craven League's sole survivors in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

There was also internal cup and league action, and Premier Division Wilsden Athletic were on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline at home to Division One Skipton Town in the second round of the Northern Plant Hire Trophy.

However, Cross Hills threatened an upset in the quarter-finals of the Premier Division Cup, leading 2-0 at half-time only to lose 5-4 after extra-time at Pendle Renegades, the full-time score being 3-3.

Joel Birks, Robert Matthews, Liam Molloy and substitute Jimmy Anson were on target for the south Craveners, while Cross Hills Reserves went down 2-0 at home to leaders Hellifield Sports in the first round of the Division One Cup.

Bradley Reserves, who are bottom of Division Three, lost 7-0 at home to Salts Reserves in the first round of their divisional cup.

There are new leaders in Division One, Cowling having taken over after a 5-4 win at bottom club Oxenhope Recreation, who threatened to notch their first win.

Luke Barker (3) and Sam Woolley (2) were Cowling's marksmen, while Cononley Sports gained a point at AFC Barnoldswick in Division Two.

In Division Three, fourth-placed Sutton had Mickey Ruddock (2), Phil Clayton and substitute Danny Ridehalgh on target in a 4-2 home win over Addingham, while Broomhill Reserves had a fine 3-1 victory at Cowling Reserves, courtesy of man of the match Shoaib Ajaib, Mark Hardman and substitute Aaron Dickson, Cowling's gong winner Alasdair McEwan getting the consolation.
