Keighley & District Supplementary Cup quarter-final: Oxenhope Rec Reserves 3 Broomhill Reserves 1

OXENHOPE moved into the last four after their quarter-final tie with Broomhill was switched to Marley’s tip top to ensure the game went ahead after wet weather.

The visitors started in a determined mood and took the lead after ten minutes. The Oxenhope defence was caught napping and a Broomhill striker found himself in acres of space to drive home.

Rec struggled to get their passing game together on a very soft surface that cut up and Broomhill gave them no time on the ball.

Early in the second half Broomhill had the chance to double their advantage when they broke downfield and hit the woodwork.

Oxenhope started to gain the upper hand, with Craig Morris, Joel Gallagher and young Luke Snowden all going close.

On the hour-mark, their pressure was rewarded when the home side grabbed the equaliser through Morris. He received the ball 25 yards out, turned and struck an unstoppable shot beyond the keeper.

Ten minutes later Oxenhope were in front. Gallagher broke down the right and delivered a quality cross for sub Scott Nelson to run on to and drill home.

The hosts made the game safe when man of the match Gallagher delivered an inch-perfect free-kick for Liam Fothergill to head in.

In the same competition, Oxenhope Thirds' match at Bingley Reserves was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. Oxenhope first team’s West Yorkshire League fixture at Brighouse was also washed out.

On Saturday, Oxenhope are due to host Shelley in the Premier Division (2pm), the seconds travel to Carlton Reserves (2pm) and the third team entertain Rolls Reserves (2pm).
