West Yorkshire League Alliance Division One: Brighouse Old Boys Reserves 1 Oxenhope Reserves 10

OXENHOPE’S second string outplayed relegation strugglers Brighouse Reserves in racking up double figures.

The visitors found themselves four goals up after just 20 minutes. The first saw a Jason McGee cross side-footed past the keeper by Joel Gallagher and McGee set up Sam Murphy for the second, the youngster side-stepping his marker to rifle home.

The third was again created by the speed of McGee, who drove past three defenders before squaring to Murphy for a tap-in.

Murphy then punished a poor clearance to claim his hat-trick, avoiding a lunging tackle before slotting in.

McGee hit the upright and soon after a strike from Luke Snowden smacked against the bar.

But McGee was not to be denied as he weaved past four defenders and struck the target to make it five.

After the break Oxenhope were caught napping as Brighouse pulled a goal back in the first minute, Glen Hall getting on the end of a perfect cross.

But there was to be no comeback as Gallagher, Snowden and Tom Duffin all hit the woodwork before Gallagher burst onto a through ball and gave the Brighouse keeper no chance to make it six.

Snowden broke down the wing and crossed for Gallagher to smash a volley home to complete his hat-trick.

Luke Scott’s half-volley found the target and Gallagher notched his fourth after latching onto a high ball that was misjudged by the Brighhouse defence.

Man of the match Gallagher was then replaced by player-manager Lee Collins, who got in on the act when he curled a free-kick home to complete the rout.

Oxenhope host Brighouse on Saturday (2pm) in the reverse fixture as they look to put themselves in striking distance of the title front-runners.
