Field Reserves progressed to the quarter-finals of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy after defeating Springhead Reserves 4-2.

Hosts Field started off the better team but it took them half an hour to break through, centre back and man of the match Callum Robinson scoring with a fine header.

Glyn Hirst had the chance to put Field further in front but had his penalty well saved.

In the second half, Field took control when Tom Ponter and Hirst converted their chances.

A confrontation between a Springhead forward and Field's Daniel Laban then led to them both being red carded.

Springhead pulled two goals back but Ben Baker came off the bench to score Field's fourth with a fine individual goal.

Joint Field manager Matthew Vickers said: “The pitch wasn’t very good so we had to work hard for our win.

"It wasn’t our greatest performance but it was a solid one."

Field Reserves are in action again tonight when they entertain Oxenhope Recreation Reserves in the second round of the West Yorkshire League's League Trophy (7.30).

Baildon Trinity Athletic lost 3-1 at Huddersfield YMCA Reserves in their West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy tie.

In West Yorkshire League Division Two, Wyke Wanderers lost 4-0 at Aberford Albion in a mid-table clash.

However, Wanderers' reserves fared better, drawing 1-1 at home to Pool Reserves in a bottom-of-the-table Alliance Division One clash.

Following recent disappointing results, Wyke gave a better performance but found themselves behind before Paolo Lewandowski equalised.

Wyke tried their best to look for a winner but couldn't find their way through a resolute Pool defence.

The Premier Division match between Headingley and Field was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
