SPORTING Keighley's run in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy is over.

Four victories, including a penalty shoot-out triumph over Silsden Whitestar in the fourth round, helped the Marley-based side into the fifth round, where they lost a heart-breaker 3-2 at Yorkshire Amateur League Championship Division side Wortley.

In a last-16 tie that included plenty of chances, Wortley took the lead after ten minutes but the visitors equalised via a fine finish by Mohammed Ammer.

An even better goal by Shazad Khan gave Sporting a 2-1 lead early in the second half, and they held that until the 86th minute when Wortley made it 2-2, taking advantage of a poorly defended set-piece.

The tie looked like it was heading to penalties, only for Sporting's defence to again let them down as Wortley tapped home the winner from a corner.

Sporting, who are still in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League's Northern Plant Hire Trophy, now turn their attention to avoiding relegation from the Premier Division, with key matches coming up against fellow strugglers Earby Town and Cross Hills.

In the Northern Plant Hire Trophy, Silsden Whitestar have booked themselves a third-round tie against Broomhill thanks to a 6-0 victory at Division Three Horton.

Josh McNulty (2), Jamie Longley, Andrew McNulty, Gavin Shearer and Sam Stanfield were on target for Whitestar.

There was no joy in the Premier Division, however, with Cross Hills losing 6-0 at Skipton LMS and Wilsden Athletic going down 3-1 at Trawden Celtic.

Broomhill gave notice that Whitestar might not have things all their own way in their forthcoming Northern Plant Hire Trophy meeting with a 2-0 home win against second-placed AFC Colne in Division One.

Andrew Tanner netted a penalty during the victory for the eighth-placed club.

Leaders Cowling also had a home win, defeating Manningham Allstars 8-1, spearheaded by Luke Barker's hat-trick.

Bottom club Bradley Reserves trailed 2-1 at half-time to Settle United Reserves in Division Three, but fought back to draw 3-3.

Tom Barraclough, Andrew Hardeman and man of the match Tom Wilson scored for the second string, who came close to notching only their second win of the season but had to be content with their third draw.

At least the point gave Bradley Reserves renewed hope of climbing above Earby Town Reserves and avoiding the wooden spoon.

Silsden Whitestar Reserves, who have no such worries, defeated visitors Barlick Wanderers 4-1 to join Ilkley at the top of the table.

Man of the match Tom Appleby bagged a hat-trick, with Simon Cox also scoring.

Whitestar Reserves are not only level on points with Ilkley, but both have a goal difference of plus 41.
