Keighley FA Supplementary Cup: Steeton Reserves 1 Oxenhope Reserves 0

STEETON reserves reached the final after edging past local rivals Oxenhope on a poor Marley pitch.

Rec fielded a strong team against a young Chevrons outfit and started on top, with Liam Fothergill on the right wing causing plenty of problems.

The best of the early exchanges saw Liam McNicol put the ball in the back of the net but he was rightly adjudged to be offside.

Steeton's younger legs started to get more of the ball and they hit Oxenhope on the counter-attack but the oranges' back three of Ross Chapman, McKenzie Dawson and Karl Wellard looked solid and limited the Chevrons to a couple of half-chances.

Oxenhope created a superb opportunity on the 35-minute mark when Mark McGee passed to Danny Mackinson, who danced round the full back to square the ball to McNicol, whose first-time strike was excellently saved by Joe Mash.

After a goalless first period, Jay McGee brought another class save from Mash when his deflected shot looked to be heading for the top corner but the keeper tipped it away.

Steeton's fresher legs began to tell and resulted in the only goal of the game when Will Knight outpaced Chapman, leaving him one on one with Jackson and he made no mistake to slot home.

Oxenhope's cause wasn't helped when Dawson was sent off for a second yellow card and ten men became nine when

McNicol was dismissed for foul and abusive language with ten minutes left.

Steeton saw the game out to book their place in the final, when they will face Silsden Whitestar Reserves, who thrashed Bingley Juniors Reserves 7-2 in the other last-four tie.
