West Riding County Amateur League Division One: Steeton Reserves 1 Golcar United Reserves 1

A last-minute goal from substitute Darragh Davy-Burke claimed a deserved point for Steeton.

In a goal-less first half, which saw Ben Clarkson and Jacob Bryceland go close for the hosts, goalkeeper Joe Mash helped keep a lively Golcar side at bay.

Visiting players Kadean Fogarty and Kiero Lawrence were a constant threat but were well marshalled by the Steeton back line.

Golcar almost took the lead on 20 minutes when a free-kick just outside the penalty area struck a defender and was deflected goalwards but an acrobatic leap by Mash, who pushed the ball to safety at the last second, maintained the deadlock.

Steeton almost took the lead in the 49th minute when a right-wing cross from Will Knight was met by Joe Flaherty but his stooping header went just wide. The stalemate was finally broken when Mash was beaten by a powerful header from Frasier Beckett after a cross from the right wing.

Soon after, Knight was forced to leave the field with a head injury and was replaced by Andy Howland and Davy-Burke took over from Bryceland. Steeton pressed hard for an equaliser but with no luck until the last minute.

A free-kick on the edge of the box was blocked by keeper Ash Whitaker but he failed to hold on to it and Davy-Burke followed up to ram it into the net for a well-deserved equaliser.

Lawrence attempted an audacious effort to score directly from the centre spot in reply for Golcar, his effort narrowly clearing the crossbar.

Steeton set up one final attack but it came to nothing and a 1-1 scoreline seemed a fair result.

Steeton reserves: Mash, Briggs, Park, Kyle Fox, Hudson, Flaherty (Sam Fox), Bryceland (Davy-Burke), Jeffrey, Knight (Howland), Clarkson Whitham. .
