IN A very scrappy, typical end-of-season West Yorkshire League Premier Division match, Field came away from Brighouse Old Boys with a 4-3 win.

Tom Ponter put Field ahead, and John Penn doubled their lead with a curler from outside the area.

Brighouse then reduced the arrears before Field restored their two-goal advantage through Aidan Day's well-taken free-kick.

The Old Boys pulled level with an own goal and a goal after defensive error, and Field were reduced to ten men when Emmott Gallagher was injured.

However, with five minutes to go, Field grabbed a late winner when Dan Summers smashed the ball into the net from close range.

Field remain third in the league with four home matches to be played, and could overtake Leeds City for second place.

In Division One, Wyke Wanderers' passing game and Sibu Moyo's pace helped them to a 2-0 victory at Kippax.

Midfielder Terry Ryan gave Wyke the lead and, with Kippax losing their cool and arguing with the referee, Karl Fawcett bagged Wanderers' second after a goalmouth scramble.

Joe Hebblewhite was man of the match for Wyke, who will finish a creditable seventh following relegation in 2015-16.

Connor Wignall was on target for Field Reserves in their 3-1 defeat at home to Carlton Athletic Reserves in Alliance Division One.

It was an end-to-end game that could have gone either way, although Carlton also hit Field's goalpost twice.

Bottom-of-the-table Wyke Wanderers Reserves played some of their best football of the season and could have been 2-0 up by half-time at Headingley Reserves, were it not for good defending and some bad luck.

Talking of bad luck, the only goal, scored five minutes into the second half, came when Wyke goalkeeper Darren Thomas pushed the ball away and it rebounded into the net when Ryan Hird tried to clear.

Seventh-placed Headingley certainly breathed a collective sigh of relief at the end after good Wyke performances from Joe Sagar and Ashley Stack and skipper Gary Lupton.
