COWLING, promoted as champions of Division One last season, gave an early indication that they will be okay in the Premier Division of the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League.

Their first match was at Pendle Renegades, who finished sixth last season, and the visitors came away with a 4-4 draw.

Goals for Cowling, who were winning 1-0 at half-time, went to Luke Barker, Jacob Hough, Tom Palmer and George Sellars.

In Division One, hosts Broomhill, who were fifth last campaign, defeated AFC Colne, who were seventh, 2-1.

Tyler Brigg got one of the goals for Broomhill, whose man of the match was Marshall Pedder.

In Division Three, Cross Hills Reserves opened up with a 5-2 home win over Broomhill Reserves.

On target for the hosts were Sam Maude (2), man of the match Sam Birks, Jacob Fryer and Billy Skelton, with Joynal Ali and David Spence replying for Broomhill, whose man of the match was James Smith.

Sutton also gave a hint of better things to come with a 4-0 win at Otley Town, who, like Cross Hills Reserves, took the drop from Division Two last season.

Man of the match Phil Clayton and Ben Wilson were among Sutton's scorers against a team who only won three league matches in 2016-17.

The Premier Division match between Trawden Celtic and Settle United was abandoned after 27 minutes following a suspected broken ankle for United's Josh Dray.
