Skipton u-15s 1 Keighley Shamrocks u-15s 5

AN ENTERTAINING first derby game of the season saw defending league champions Shamrocks eventually come out on top.

The first half was one-sided with Keighley playing some lovely passing football but they failed to convert numerous chances into more goals.

Last season's top league goal scorer Ben Sharp, from the edge of the box, and Lewis Plumb, with a fantastic overhead kick following a corner from Barney Cope, gave the Hoops a 2-1 half-time lead.

An injury to midfielder Daniel Ambler meant Shammies had to reshuffle their formation, which saw Skipton come back into the game. However, Cope moved into centre midfield with the excellent Ciaron Fleming and steadied the ship.

With great work from Ciaran Fleming and Joe Lee, Plumb bagged his brace and Sharp added two more to complete his hat-trick.

There were quality performances from all the boys, including a Shamrocks debut for Courbon Carr, who signed from Salts in the summer.

The defence was particularly strong with Foysol Ullah being man of the match, just ahead of Sam Woodward.

Oakworth Wasps u-17s 4 Thackley Lightning u-17s 2

Oakworth dominated the first half, scoring two goals through Jake Illingworth and Tyler Green. The second half was a different game as Thackley improved and scored early.

Illingworth scored his second, only for Thackley to score again. At 3-2, Oakworth nerves started to jangle but they were calmed when Illingworth completed his hat-trick.

Man of the match was stand-in goalkeeper Jacob Poynter along with Charlie O'Hare for great defensive work.
