Wharfedale Triangle League Cup: Burton Leonard 6 Cullingworth Youth 3

CULLINGWORTH Youth were unable to progress in the cup after making a round trip of 60 miles to play their hosts north of Harrogate.

Within two minutes Sam Fox had put Youth a goal up and for the next 15 minutes they completely dominated play and missed three sitters. Then play became end-to-end with Burton finding the net twice but, just before the break, Kyle Fox levelled the scores.

The second half became the same old story for Youth as lack of fitness saw them on the defensive, conceding four goals. Fox added his second for Youth, who were without three regular defenders.

Matthew Wild scored four for the hosts, with Daniel Mead also bagging a brace.

Cullingworth have no match this week. The following week they play Shipley Town in their first home game of the season.

Keighley Athletic did progress in the cup thanks to a 1-0 win at Armley Rangers.

* There was better news for Keighley Town, who maintained their position at top of the Premier Division by virtue of their 5-1 defeat of Old Boys FC at Marley.

Their scorers were Roy Stubbs (2), Bradley Cole, Danny McHugh and Leon Smith. Town are away this week at Hollins Holme in the County Cup.
