West Yorkshire League Alliance Division One: Oxenhope Recreation Reserves 2 Headingley Reserves 1

With only two points separating the teams, this was always likely to be a close game.

Both teams started strongly, with the home team's defence standing up well to the Headingley attack, including goalkeeper Ricky Driver, whose handling was sure in the wet, slippery conditions.

Oxenhope fought their way back, however, and Danny Driver, Dan Moriarty and Luke Snowden went close as Headingley were restricted to counter-attacking.

The deadlock looked certain to be broken when Moriarty shot goalwards after the keeper had spilled a shot, but a defender slid in to clear the ball off the line.

Ricky Driver was then brave, winning a 50-50 challenge but feeling the full force of the striker's studs as a reward.

Oxenhope broke the deadlock as the match entered the final 15 minutes of the first half, with Moriarty reacting quickly to slot the ball home after the keeper failed to hold Danny Driver's powerful shot.

However, Headingley levelled from a perfectly weighted through ball, the shot flying past Ricky Driver into the top corner of the net before he could react.

In the second half, Moriarty and Danny Driver were thwarted as the sides battled for ascendancy, but Headingley seemed to get away with one when a shot appeared to creep over their goal-line before the keeper clawed it back, with the referee being poorly positioned.

With Oxenhope's man of the match Ricky Driver pulling off a number of top-class saves, and being matched by his opposite number, who saved three certain goals, both teams went for the win.

In the dying minutes, it was Oxenhope who succeeded as Danny Driver broke down the right, outpacing a defender and racing into box before squared the ball to Joel Gallagher, who side- footed the ball past the advancing keeper into the bottom corner for a 2-1 victory.
