LONG-serving official Allan Feather was in for a surprise when he attended the latest meeting of the Wharfedale Triangle League at Hawkhill Sports & Social Club in Guiseley last Thursday.
Allan, who is 94 years old, has been secretary or manager of Cullingworth Youth Football Club for a staggering 64 years (20 years now as secretary), received a clock for his services to amateur football.
The presentation was made jointly by Paul Law, of Myrtle Park FC, and Roy Crabtree, of Keighley Town FC.
"I am 95 in May and I am as fit as a fiddle," said Allan, who used to be on the committee of the Keighley Sunday Alliance League and is a life member of Keighley & District FA.
Among the tasks that Allan regularly undertakes are washing the kit and sweeping out the changing rooms.
League secretary Andrew Wear said: "The idea to recognise Allan came from Paul and Roy.
"To be involved in football for so long is a remarkable achievement, and Allan pretty much does everything for Cullingworth Youth, such as putting the nets up and checking the pitch every day.
"He also communicates very well via his type-written letters."
