Shelley 3 Steeton 2

SHELLEY brought the same game plan as in the previous meeting between the two sides; a long kick from the back for their two strikers to chase down.

Steeton's Freddie Maddocks, Will Kaye and Darragh Davy Burke coped well with this until 25 minutes in when the Shelley striker latched on to another long ball with a nice finish to open the scoring.

The visitors had three chances in the half but could not capitalise on them.

Steeton came out in the second half and started to play the ball around with belief and intent.

Against the run of play Shelley managed to gain another chance and scored.

This spurned Steeton on with Harry Farnell driving the ball at the defence.

Consequently a through ball from Toby Jeffrey found Farnell's head in the box to make it 2-1.

Another soft free-kick to Shelley was not dealt with and a free header extended their lead.

Steeton, then with Jordan Daniel and Freddie Binns at the helm, made numerous chances, this resulted in a Steeton free-kick just outside the box.

Binns hit a low ball, the Shelley keeper made a mistake which left Daniel to follow in for a nice finish.

Two minutes to go Binns ran into the box and round the keeper, who brought him resulting in a penalty.

Binns himself took the strike but a finger-tip save to push it onto the upright, only for the ball to run down the line and the goalkeeper to make another fine save.
