SILSDEN know they have won promotion to the Hallmark Security League Premier Division but they now need to win their final fixture on Monday to secure the title.

Danny Forrest’s side ended with nine men as they went down 4-1 at Cammell Laird who confirmed their own place in the play offs with the victory as they finished with ten men.

It all looked straightforward for the Cobbydalers as they led 1-0 at the break thanks to Aiden Kirby’s volley.

The visitors were hit by a triple whammy early in the second half as Lairds levelled when Ben Holmes headed home and minutes later Silsden skipper Josh Kaine was sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity and the home side’s Josh Malkin netted the penalty.

Holmes scored his second soon after but they had midfielder Paul Jewel dismissed just after.

The Cobbydalers’ scorer Kirby picked up a second yellow card later in the game and Holmes went on to claim his hat-trick.

Silsden’s title rivals, Litherland REMYCA, won 6-2 at Stockport Town.

Elsewhere Thackley won 4-3 at home to Rainworth MW after a remarkable beginning to the second half.

The Dennyboys trailed 1-0 at the break to a Gareth Curtis drive before a burst of four goals inside the first 11 minutes.

Luke Robinson, Matt Broadley and Mike Garrod all scored before Curtis bagged his second.

Robinson also netted a second but the Wrens’ Matt Sykes wrapped up the scoring 12 minutes from time.

Albion Sports beat beleaguered near neighbours Liversedge 5-1 at Clayborn. Sedge will end the season above Kulwinder Sandhu’s Lions but the Albion bagged the bragging rights with a comfortable win.

Antoine Recizac, Joe Bardon, Jamal Stewart and a Danny Facey, pictured, brace made up the Albion tally.
