Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas looks set to return to his first club Nottingham Forest.

Jenas began his career at the Championship club and rose through the youth ranks to the first team before securing a £5m move to Newcastle in 2002.

The 29-year-old has been a peripheral figure at White Hart Lane in recent seasons and this year once again finds himself low down the pecking order.

If Forest move quick they may even have Jenas in their ranks in time for Sunday's clash against east midlands rivals Derby.

A loan move to Forest had been mooted in the summer but talks fell through and a number of other clubs are thought to be interested.

The last match Jenas started for Spurs was in April 2011.

The former England man went on loan to Aston Villa last season but was ruled out for the season with an achilles injury.
