Farsley saw their lead at the top of JCT600 Bradford League Division Two cut to 12 points after a surprise five-run defeat at Brighouse.

The home side were restricted to 180-8, with opener Zahir Hussain top scoring with 51 and Sadaqat Zaman making 37, while off spinner Mark Harrison took 4-62.

Steady batting from Joe Greaves (43), Barrie Frankland (35) and Matthew Green (32) put Farsley on course for victory, but they lost their last four wickets for only nine runs and were bowled out for 175 with seven balls of their innings left.

Sohail Hussain with 4-27 and Mohammed Hafeez 3-39 were Brighouse’s most successful bowlers.

Second-placed New Farnley took advantage of Farsley’s defeat by taking 19 points from an easy 153-run home win over Idle.

Consistent batting from opener Matthew Good (44), Sam Hewitt (35) and Peter Ross (34) enabled New Farnley to reach 220 as Nick Cumming took 6-46. They then bowled out the visitors for only 67, with Nick Johnson taking 3-22 and Nick Cullen 3-8.

Third-placed Yeadon are ten points behind New Farnley after beating Gomersal by 155 runs, with Oliver Halliday producing a fine all round performance. Halliday scored 69, while skipper Jamie Todd made 67, as Yeadon totalled 230-8. Halliday then took 4-27 and Shaun Miller 3-15 as Gomersal were dismissed for only 75.

Fourth-placed Spen Victoria are four points behind Yeadon as they ended a run of matches without a win with a crushing 184-run win at Bankfoot.

Tosh Baker scored 104 not out as Spen totalled 234-4 and they then bowled out Bankfoot for a mere 50 with experienced pace bowler Rob Burton finishing with the impressive figures of 6-12 in 10.1 overs.

Undercliffe are losing touch with the leading group after going down by four wickets at Hartshead Moor. Ahmed Raja scored 65 as Undercliffe were bowled out for 146, with off-spinner Will Smith taking 5-37 and George Saville 3-26.

Craig Field then led Hartshead to their comfortable win with 51 not out, passing 5,000 Bradford League runs in the process.

Opener Matthew Bottomley scored 88 as Keighley gained a six-wicket win at Bowling Old Lane. Joe Stead took 4-56 as Old Lane were bowled out for 193, with Ayyaz Akram their top scorer with 48 while Arsalan Ijaz made 38.

Bottomley played a key role, supported by Freddie Pearson 39, as Keighley reached their target with nine balls to spare.

Windhill beat bottom club Great Horton by four wickets. Arun Balasubramanian scored 55 as Horton made 209, with Andy Horner taking 4-60 and Ryan Holdsworth 3-43.

Shoaib Iqbal top-scored with 63 not out while Jack Holland made 38 to enable Windhill to reach their winning target.
