A Mewies Craven League representative side beat a Nidderdale Show XI by 74 runs at Pateley Bridge.

Unlike like last year, when the showground area was flooded, this year the weather was fine and the visitors made the most of it with a big score.

After being put in to bat, Craven racked up 258-5 as they built on a fine start.

Mohammed Zahid (Haworth Road) and Alan Broadley (Ingrow) put on 72 for the first wicket before Gareth Marshall (Oakworth) took over and continued his terrific record in this fixture.

With Broadley out for 63, Marshall added 67 and Adam Dutton (Foulridge) went on to finish unbeaten on 74.

The Show IX soon found themselves 29-3 and later 115-5 as only Dan Riley (Birstwith) made much progress.

He was eventually out for a belligerent 29-ball 74 (including nine sixes) as the innings closed on 184-8, with Oakworth’s Adam Smith (4-45) the stand-out bowler.
