The Mewies Solicitors Craven League have handed out five honorary life memberships for outstanding service.

They have gone to president Peter Shuttleworth, chairman Ken Hirst, vice-chairman Bryan Hollis, treasurer Richard Webster and executive committee member Richard Smith.

League secretary Ann Coe said: “It is often the case that people are given honorary life memberships when they retire but if you look at how many years they have served the league, why should they have to wait to be recognised?

“Richard Webster has served 15 years, Peter Shuttleworth and Bryan Hollis 18 years, Ken Hirst 20 years and Richard ‘Rummy’ Smith, who is our ‘rules man’ 25 years.”

Shuttleworth, Hirst, Hollis and Smith received their honorary life memberships at the league’s annual dinner at Rolls Royce, while Webster was presented with his certificate by Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s chief executive officer Mark Arthur, who came to the league’s latest meeting as part of their meet and greet tour of the Broad Acres.

Meanwhile, Ron Wanless (Bradley) and Chris Todd (Sutton) have both put their names forward for the league’s executive committee.

There will be a ballot to decide which one will join the committee at the league’s annual meeting at Skipton LMS Sports Club on Monday, December 9.

Pendle Forest have withdrawn their second team from Division Four next season.

Fixture secretary Trevor Coe proposed that Foulridge be promoted from Division Five, and this was seconded by Sandy Lane and passed.

This means that Division Five will only have ten clubs but the fixture secretary will try and give them fixtures every week.
