Denholme Cricket Club stalwart Jack Greenwood has won a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his volunteer work.

Jack has provided dedicated service to the club for 55 years, fulfilling a host of roles including scorer, fund-raiser and general helper.

His hard work has already seen him pick up a string of accolades over the last year. They include a Torch Trophy Trust award – presented by HRH The Princess Royal - the England and Wales Cricket Board's Lifetime Achievement award and the Yorkshire Cricket Board's equivalent prize.

His fund-raising efforts have brought over £30,000 into the club, the money being used to improve facilities and encourage more people to play cricket.
