CULLINGWORTH suffered an agonising one-wicket at Stones to end their promotion hopes from the Foster's Halifax League Terry Wynne Second Division.

The visitors were 49-7 before being revived to 142 by Anthony Partington (51), Phil Poole (19) and Josh Rogers (17).

However, rain reduced that total to 139 and, despite Graham Rankin taking 6-45 and Dave Robinson 2-27, Stones, who were 35-6 at one stage, just edged to victory.

Bridgeholme head the table on 150 points, with Wibsey Park Chapel on 118, Cullingworth on 116, Stones on 115 and Denholme Clough, who had a free week, on 108.

All these clubs have played 16 matches, apart from Cullingworth, who have played 18 and have no matches left as they finish the campaign with two byes.

Oxenhope have secured their place in the Roy Smith First Division after defeating visitors Outlane by 40 runs.

The hosts overcame the early loss of opener Darren Hopkinson as Liam Dyson (35) and Graham Ellis (20) built a strong stand of 54 before Dyson was run out.

However, a creditable 18 on his first-team debut for Akash Gopal was the only other significant innings until what proved to be a match-winning last-wicket stand of 36 between Duncan Tetley (22no) and the returning Adam Bailey (14), which boosted Oxenhope to 160.

Bailey (4-35) and Tetley (3-23) then starred with the ball as Outlane were dismissed for 120.

Oxenhope Seconds are in a perilous position at the bottom of the Roy Smith First Division with 89 points, which is 14 from safety.

Runaway leaders Southowram made 137-4 off their 32 overs and Oxenhope openers Luke Fleetwood (26) and Brendan Ellison (21) added 37 but young Nathan Storton (35no) ran out of partners as they fell five runs short.
