KEIGHLEY slipped to the bottom of Division Two after losing at home to league new boys Scholes by seven wickets.

Spinner Danny Cross, Division Two’s top wicket-taker with 20, picked up 5-39 as the hosts were restricted to 144-9. Richard Wear (44) and Luke Chapman (33) were the main contributors to the modest total, with overseas player Atif Zaidi collecting 3-24.

Zaidi followed up with 58 as he and opener Toby Thorpe (40no) guided their side to victory.

Keighley were overtaken by previous bottom club Idle, who gained enough bonus points to climb the table despite defeats to Baildon and Spen Victoria.

The Lawkholme Laners sit at the base of both their respective tables as Keighley II lost by 17 runs at Undercliffe II.

Adnan Mahmood (42) and Zafran Ghaffar (38) helped the hosts post a score of 161-9, George Heartfield taking 2-28 and Andrew Coppen 2-31.

Keighley were then restricted to 144-9. Martin Walker (32) was their best batsmen as Mukdas Mohammad (3-18) and Adam Ahmed (3-37) helped seal Undercliffe’s win.

On Saturday, Keighley's first team host Yeadon, who are struggling themselves after relegation last season, while the seconds head to Farsley.
