STEETON were on the wrong end of a low-scoring thriller at home to Collingham in Division One.

Toby Jacklin picked up six wickets for the second week in a row as the hosts were skittled out for 128. But with Joe Stead (4-47) and James Emmott (4-25) going well, they had the visitors struggling at 88-8 until Collingham’s No 9 Adam Wetherall stepped up with 55 off 44 balls to clinch a one-wicket win, the last pair putting on 24 runs.

Ben Rhydding climbed out of the Division Two bottom two with a seven-wicket win at Harden. Paul Quinlan hit a half-century as the hosts recovered from 11-4 to 157 with Kervan Christmas (4-59) and Charlie Swallow (3-29) doing the damage. Swallow (47no) and Robbie Miller (32no) saw Ben Rhydding past the post.

Silsden's Muhammad Adnan took 4-34 as Upper Wharfedale were bowled out for 194 (Callum Lockett 72) but the home side's batting crumbled once again and they are still looking for their first win.

The South Craven side could only make 119, Majid Inayat and Sadir Khan both making 22 as C Grant was chief destroyer with 4-43.

Josh Gill was in devastating form as he ripped through the New Rover top-order and finished with 4-20, clean bowling all his victims.

In fact, the first seven batsmen out were all bowled as Paul Hardwick also finished with 4-18, the hosts slumping to 55 all out before Steeton knocked the runs off with few problems.

In their Birtwhistle Cup quarter-final, visitors Horsforth II were bowled out for 229 in 43.5 overs. David Wynn was the pick of the bowlers with 4-37, including two wickets in one over.

Chris Luxton deserved a century but had to settle for an excellent 98 from 77 deliveries. He shared a third-wicket partnership of 103 with skipper Craig Walton, who scored an exciting unbeaten 71 from just 39 deliveries.

Steeton II will now play Beckwithshaw II at home on July 19.
