KEIGHLEY, who were bottom of the JCT600 Bradford League Second Division only a month ago, have shot up to ninth.

Without a win for their first nine matches, they have now won three of their last four, including Saturday's thrilling one-wicket triumph at Hartshead Moor.

The hosts had been 66-5 but recovered to 143 on the back of 32 from skipper Will Smith, 24 from George Saville and 16 from Jack Baldwin.

Hammy Shahzad (15-3-36-4) removed Moor's top four and there was later support from Andy Wear (3-27).

Keighley were also in strife at 75-6 but Jonathan Wilkinson (35) and Andy Wear (15) put on 42 for the seventh wicket, the latter then added a vital 17 with Alex Towler, and No 10 James Rogers got Keighley over the line to leave Daniel Squire (5-44) and Adil Ladak (2-28) frustrated.

Keighley, who did not win any of their first nine matches, have also beaten Idle and Spen Victoria, climbing above Idle, Windhill, Moor and Brighouse.

The next step will be the hardest, however, as eighth-placed Bankfoot are 36 points better off.

Keighley's second team are still waiting to get off the mark, however, in 13 attempts in their respective First Division.

They started promisingly enough at home to Morley after the early dismissal of Martin Walker.

Andrew Waggett (41) and George Heartfield (25) added 46 for the second wicket to make them 63-2 but they then collapsed to 88 all out as no-one else reached double figures, Spencer Horsfall taking 4-5 and Ashley Daley 3-14, Rob Lintin-French (2-29) triggering the shutter of wickets by having Heartfield caught by Callum Walker.

Morley made light work of that target, scoring 90-0 off 16.2 overs, with Sam Medley 51 not out and Lintin-French 32 not out, leaving Keighley pointless and now 48 points adrift at the basement.
