OAKWORTH dodged a bullet to reach another Wynn Cup final in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

Things looked bleak for the hosts when Haworth needed 11 runs from the final three overs with four wickets in hand.

However, after an opening stand of 82 between Jamie Rowell (49) and Pete Gower, who batted through for 40, only Harry Reynoldson (18) also reached double figures as the visitors collapsed from 128-4 and 147-6 to finish three runs short of victory at 151-9.

Holders Oakworth had earlier been given a fine start by Joel Gallagher (28), Gareth Marshall (26) and the in-form Ben Howell (39) but from 64-1 they found themselves at 120-8 and were grateful for some vital runs from tail-enders Nivard Trowers (22no) and Sam Nettleton (18no), who put on 33 unbroken for the ninth wicket.

Jamie Rowell (3-24) and Richard Ellis (2-30) were the pick of the Haworth bowlers, while Marshall (3-25) and Howell (3-26) engineered the two collapses when the visitors batted, Jack Davison also putting pressure on by only conceding 13 runs in six overs.

Oakworth will meet 2009 winners Bingley Congs in the final on Sunday, August 9 at a venue to be determined after Congs beat Crossflatts by 66 runs in the other semi-final at Beckfoot Lane.

Andy Copping (29), his nephew Neil Copping (15), Chris Dibb (29), Aussie Tom Mackenzie (49) and Tom Keighley (20) all got starts in Congs' 175, Jim O'Hara (3-49) and Dave Hall (3-35) making life difficult for the middle order, but no-one got above 21 in Crossflatts' reply as they were dismissed for 109.

Nathan Bradbury (19) and wicket-keeper Dom Bennett (10) added 37 for the second wicket but the only other partnership of note was 31 between O'Hara (12no) and the reliable Hall (21) as Congs' bowlers shared the wickets around.

Neil Copping took a typically mean 3-13, Harry Greenhalgh 3-23, Aidy Dibb 2-20 and Matty Roberts 2-35.
