DENHOLME are leading Division Two of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League for the first time this season.

On a rain-hit Saturday, they beat bottom club Gargrave to overtake Oakworth for top spot – but there wasn't much in it considering the gulf in points.

Hussnain Ali (32) and Robert Taylor (28) were the main contributors to Denholme's 136 off 38 overs but ten-man hosts Gargrave replied with 121 off 41.5 overs, Luke Pickles taking 4-38 and Ryan Judson 3-26.

Next-to-bottom Sutton may have lost David Wilkinson early in their Division One match at home to Crossflatts but seemed on for a decent score when fellow opener David Snowden made 83 and Sam Solley, promoted from the second team, 33 at No 4.

However, No 3 Richard Walker (13) was the only other player to reach double figures in their 149-8 off 35 overs, Charlotte Boulton taking 3-26 and Vikram Bakshi 2-28.

Fourth-placed Crossflatts knocked them off for the loss of three wickets in just 21.4 overs, young off-spinner Solley taking one of the wickets as Nathan Bradbury made 52, wicket-keeper Dom Bennett 47 not out and Bakshi 37 as they climbed above Bingley Congs into third.

Haworth was the only other place where there was any play in the top flight, and were looking like getting on top as bottom club Foulridge were 7-2 off 5.1 overs when they came off for rain.

Skipton CI were victims of a superb display by home skipper Arnie Raistrick for Eldwick & Gilstead in Division Three.

He only came in at No 9 but top-scored with 30 not out in their 98-9 off 30 overs after they were 49-7, Michael Brodigan getting 21 in the top order.

Raistrick then took 5-27, Jordan Bayliss 3-14 and Matt Sharp 2-19 as CI were dismissed for 89 in 26.3 overs.

Cononley are third after opponents Haworth West End, who are bottom, conceded, while Zak Critchlow was 26 not out for relegation-threatened Bradford & Bingley, who were 54-3 after 16 overs when the heavens opened at Barrowford.

Bingley Congs, who are second in Division Four, had to decide whether to stick or twist at Chatburn, who made 159-8 off 45 overs, with Josh Zenner taking 4-32 and Jamie Teale 3-33.

Bingley Congs could only fit in 32 overs when they were batting and made 140-6, of which Jimmy Dennison scored 58, Gary Cook 24 and John Hill 18.

Wilsden were 9-0 off six overs at third-placed Crossflatts when rain stopped play.

The top-of-the-table clash in Division Five was ruined by the weather, with second-placed Sutton 30-2 off 11 overs at leaders Cowling when the heavens opened, Sajid Shafait taking both wickets at a personal cost of seven runs, while Cononley were enjoying themselves at Sandylands when they were interrupted by the weather.

Tom Feather was 33 not out and had added 55 for the first wicket with Antony Rodley (21) as the visitors were 78-1 off 29 overs when rain stopped play.
