DENHOLME Clough gave promotion-chasing Outlane a mighty scare when they clashed in Foster's Halifax League Division Two.

The match was reduced to 27 overs per side but Outlane still totalled 200-3, Calum Westwood (54no) and Chris Brook (64no) adding 113 unbroken after opener Lee Mellor had made 45.

Clough lost Shabir Hussain early doors but a stand of 76 between opener Imran Aslam (53) and Safdar Khan (24) put visitors Clough in with a shout, and Mohammed Asif (57no) almost saw them home as they finished on 196-7.

Cullingworth's match at Greetland was rained off, as was Oxenhope's Division One home match against Northowram Hedge Top.

Second teams fared no better as Cullingworth's derby with Oxenhope fell victim to the weather, as did Denholme Clough's home match against Low Moor.
