With only the under-nines summer tournament to complete on Bank Holiday Monday, UAJCA secretary Terry Thompson has revealed that more than 40 per cent of the 400-plus league fixtures had to be re-arranged, primarily because of bad weather in May but particularly in July.

Regulations allowed almost ten per of those to be replayed but 30 per cent remained unplayed, with one in eight matches conceded.

Thompson said: “While we can’t control the weather, we certainly need to look at how clubs manage their fixtures in order to significantly reduce the additional work and hassle in re-arranging matches."

The UAJCA meeting in November will discuss these issues and consider rule changes.
