THE Mewies Solicitors Craven League have postponed Saturday's opening fixtures.
The decision, taken because groundsmen have been struggling to do their work due to winter flooding and a wet spring, and a poor forecast for this weekend, was made at last night's executive committee meeting.
The scheduled matches have been re-arranged for Saturday, September 17.
The league's statement said: "We are aware that some clubs hire their grounds and they might not be able to play on the 17th.
"If this is the case for your club, your first option is to try and negotiate with your landlord to extend your lease to enable you to play.
"Failing that, we expect you to try and arrange another suitable ground.
"Finally if these two options have been explored and your team cannot find a ground, your club secretary will need to write to the executive committee.
"Should this happen, all cases will be viewed and decided upon on their own merit."
