HAWORTH are the early leaders of the Mewies Craven League Division One with a 100 per cent record after three games.

The Bronte side made 184 at home to Riddlesden, with Dave Bainbridge (59) and Dan Trowers (49) putting on 106 for the third wicket as Mohammed Arshad claimed 4-43. Damian Rowell then took 6-25 off 14 overs to dismiss the Grange Road side for 94.

In second place are Bingley Congs, two points adrift, after they rattled up 201 at home to Oakworth. Sam Porter made 61 and Andy Blackburn 32 as Jack Davison took 4-70 and Adam Smith 3-28.

The visitors replied with 175-8, Davison top-scoring with 53 and Michael Scarborough 31no as Mohammad Adil took 4-38.

Nathan Bradbury scored a superb 119 as Crossflatts posted 235-8 at home to Sutton, who could only muster 94, with Amjay Amirtharaz taking 3-9 and Ayub 3-18.

The flamboyant Ingrow St John’s batters were in sparkling form as they walloped 261-5 at Cowling, with Ahtasham Raza making 62, Imran Nadeem 61, Sarum Qureshi 42no and Zafar Iqbal 37no. In reply Cowling could only muster 106 as Habib Aslam took 6-38.

Foulridge posted 161-5 at Embsay, who were never in the hunt and closed on 117.

Mohammad Zahid (56) helped Haworth Road to 168 at Baildon Bottom as Matt Wear took 4-24. Denholme were dismissed for 94 in reply, with Zahid taking 4-28 and Ameer Mavia 3-13.

Division Two

Joint leaders Hepworth & Idle crashed 248-4 (Gareth Goodaire 56no and Gareth Deegan 39no putting on an undefeated 106 for the fifth wicket) before visitors Chatburn made 195 as Andrew Horner took 4-71.

Oakworth II kept their unbeaten record, seeing off 10-man Bradley by six wickets. The Matthew Lane side opened with a stand of 125 between Chris Capstick (52) and James Heseltine, who went on to 104 before retiring with a pulled calf muscle as Bradley closed on 207-3.

The Cure Hill side’s victory was set up by Alan Fothergill (51) and Jamie Lee (89), who put on 127 for the second wicket as the visitors sorely missed the tight bowling of Heseltine.

Wilsden complete the trio of leaders after they beat Thornton by seven runs at Windy Grove. The home side posted 208-9, with Colin Bottomley making 57 as Jack Laycock took 4-62. David Holt hit a fine 104 (nine fours and seven sixes) to set up a close finish, but he went on 199 and the innings closed on 201. Sam Mitchell took 5-48 and Chris Mitchell 4-33.

Airedale’s Saqib Javaid (4-20) and Lee Rickaby (3-23) had host Ingrow St John's II back in the hut for 82. Wayne Coppack (31no) was the mainstay of the successful seven-wicket winning reply.

There was a run fest at Glusburn where visitors Haworth Road II plundered 281-8, with Shahid Mahmood scoring 94 and Waj Mahmood 76. The Park Field side replied with 215, with Nick Williamson making 42 as Ali Asguar took 3-52.

There was a surprise at Barrowford where Ingrow beat the Bull Holme side by 42 runs. The Hainworth outfit posted 137, then Aaron Pearce (4-45) and Jake Hoyle (3-12) helped the home side back to the pavilion for 95.

Division Three

Leaders Long Lee were four-wicket winners at home to Embsay II, who posted 153-6 with veteran Brian Hodgson scoring a fine 63no and Tom Robinson 32 as Shahbaz Ahmed took 3-36. In the reply, Mark Day top-scored with 53no to go with Paul Stowell’s 43 as Stephen Speak took 3-42.

Sandy Lane occupy second place after they hit a massive 285-8 at Greenwood Park, with Asif Khan scoring a superb 117 and Usman Arshad 88 as Charlie Hall took 4-58.

Visitors Crossflatts could only muster 121 in reply. Bryan Freimanis made 34 and Oliver Bellaby 31 as Farhan Khalid claimed 4-14.

There was another run fest at Cononley where Skipton CI were the visitors. The home side amassed 261-7 with Charles Calvert leading the way with 66 as Tom Feather made 62no and Willie Naylor 47.

The Sandylanders threw caution to the wind and soared home by four wickets with six balls to spare. Ian Henderson top-scored with 75 as Martin Chisnall made 56no with Feather taking 4-25.

Riddlesden II were bowled out for 100 by visitors Gargrave with Steve McGarry scoring 49 as Stuart Weatherill took 4-30. The nine-man away side closed on 91-8, with Bob Morrisroe taking 4-34 and Dan Kernan 3-45.

Denholme opener Neil Spencer made 42 as his side posted a modest 128 with Mohammed Hussain taking 6-33. Bradford & Bingley III galloped home with skipper Sandy Dobson 59no and Sam Dixon 40no putting on an undefeated 98 for the 4th wicket.

Division Four and Five

In the Ribble Valley, homesters Chatburn II were restricted to 125 by Hepworth and Idle II with Glen Pinkney taking 3-28 and Martin McCully 3-15. This score was more than enough as the visitors fell 52 runs short of their target. James Price claimed 5-31 and Travis Blezard 4-28.

Liquat Ali 54, Muhammed Ulfat 53 and Zeeshan Aslam 52 helped Sandy Lane II to 257 at Bronte Fields. Homesters Oakworth replied with 111 as Feroz Hassan took 4-23 and Ali 3-26.

Neil Rollins 72 and Ben Wine 45 put on 140 for the 3rd wicket to help Haworth II to 164-9 up at Noyna as Shahbaz Munir took 4-21 and Tamoor Munir 4-31. Foulridge II were always in the hunt and built on a 91 first wicket stand between Jonathan Swarbrick 34 and Imran Qamar 61 to close down towards their target. However Wine 5-41 and Danny Spencer 3-69 saw to it that they fell just 2 runs short.

8 man Glusburn II made a creditable 153-5 down at Airedale II with Alan Coney making 46no. The Bradford Road side got home by 8 wickets with Paul Feather 56no and Trevor Cox 52no putting on an undefeated 80 for the 3rd wicket.

Playing at Victory Park, Barnoldswick, Barrowford II were hustled out for 62 as Carl Jopson claimed 5-28 and George Blackwell 3-7. Sutton II limped home by 3 wickets.

Long Lee II’s Craig Pullen hit 23 fours in his fine knock of 131 which along with Jack McGregan’s 44 helped the Golden View side to 240-8. Visitors Ingrow replied with 145 with Martin Courtman scoring 56 and McGregan took 4-36.

At Matthew Lane Bradley made 184-7 with Chris Kimberley and Harry McGowan both making 34 before evergreen Tim Rudden, batting at No 8, scored a fine 60no. Visitors Wilsden II replied with 144-9.

There was a tense finish at Gargrave II. Visitors Cowling II were indebted to Alfie Brear 37 and Mr Extras 34 for their 152-9. In the Skipton Road side's reply, 76-year-old Russ Nixon made 32 before a six was hit of the last ball to secure the victory.

Finally Skipton CI II hung on to beat visitors Bingley Congs III by just 8 runs. Danyal Iqbal 37 helped the Sandylanders to 155 with Andy Love and Michael Clayton taking 3 wickets apiece. Wayne Exley top scored with 27 as the Beckfoot side replied with 147-9.
