FREDDIE Pearson scored his maiden century for Steeton to help them progress into the second round of the Waddilove Cup.

Pearson scored 106 not out from 102 deliveries, with two sixes and 15 fours, as an excellent 150-run unbroken partnership with Craig Walton was the key to the Summerhill Lane side's seven-wicket win at home to Ben Rhydding.

Walton weighed in with an unbeaten 60 from 55 deliveries, including one six and nine fours, as the pair guided Steeton past the visitors' all out total of 214 in 36 overs to set up a home tie with Division One rivals Beckwithshaw.

Pick of the Steeton bowlers earlier in the day after Ben Rhydding opted to bat was opener Josh Gill, who took 4-31 from 8.1 overs. Red Bolton’s impressive start to the season continued with 64 but the Ilkley side's total was insufficient.

Menston eased past Silsden in the battle of the Division Three teams. Chris Barrett hit 58 for Silsden but their total of 164 all out was easily passed by Menston as Doug Bradley hit 97 not out as his side cantered through with seven wickets to spare.

Andy Laws lead the way with an unbeaten 94 for Adel as they easily saw off fellow Division Two outfit Harden.

Adel made 241-6 before 3-10 from Richard Mumford sent Harden on their way to 148 all out, despite the efforts of Devin Pollock (61) and Matthew Topham (41), as Adel won by 93 runs.

Second round draw (ties to be played June 5): Rawdon v Adel, Tong Park Esholt v Addingham, Ilkley v Green Lane, North Leeds v Horsforth, Leeds Modernians v Burley, Thackley v Menston, Steeton v Beckwithshaw, Kirkstall Educational v Otley.

In contrast to their cup success, Steeton slipped to their third straight defeat in the league, leaving them bottom of Division One.

Opting to bat first at Otley, they were bowled out for just 105 in 37.3 overs.

Veteran opener John Akrigg was again in good form as he top-scored with a battling 38 but only Tom Stead, with 26, was able to provide an additional significant contribution.

Chris Thompson followed up a 4-32 spell with an unbeaten 33, including a third six to end the match, as he and Josh Atkinson (40no) steered Otley home with seven wickets in hand.

In Division Two, Iqbal Khan (4-32) and Gary Owens (3-41) restricted Harden to 170 in which Mark Portlock made 61.

There was never a doubt about the result after Skipton openers Sam Moore (91) and Shahid Nadeem (54) put on 145 and that was the platform they needed for an eight-wicket success.

Green Lane secured a comfortable 74-run victory at Silsden in Division Three.

Philip Atkinson scored his second consecutive 76 for Green Lane as they rattled up 262-7 from their 50 overs.

This was more than enough as Silsden could only make 188 all out from 37.1 overs to hand Green Lane a comfortable victory.

David Brook, recently transferred from Burley, made 51 on his debut for Silsden, while Simon Cox weighed in with 41.
