STEETON made it a fantastic Bank Holiday period with victory in a high-scoring game at Kirkstall.

Coming two days after their first Division One win of the season at Ilkley, the Summerhill Lane side cruised to a six-wicket success after the hosts had posted 250-9.

Veteran opener John Akrigg was the hero with a fantastic unbeaten match-winning century, scoring 102no from 133 deliveries (including three sixes and ten fours).

He shared an exceptional 169-run third-wicket partnership with Andrew Foulds, who contributed an excellent 79 from 115 balls, the pair rescuing the visitors from 16-2.

James Emmott (27 from 14 balls) and Craig Walton (22no from 10 balls) added quick runs to see Steeton home in 47.4 overs.

Kirkstall had earlier opted to bat, with opener Callum Oliver leading the way with 110.

Pick of the bowlers was skipper Steve Pearson, who claimed 5-50, while support came from Josh Gill (2-54) and Paul Hardwick (2-72).

Despite the efforts of Paul Quinlan (44), Harden struggled to recover from losing their first two wickets without scoring in the opening over against Addingham, who eased past the 105 target with six wickets to spare in Division Two.

Their star man was Henry Barrow who followed up a 4-32 spell with an unbeaten half-century.

After winning on Saturday, Silsden came back down to earth on Monday when they were bundled out for 70 and beaten by eight wickets at struggling Alwoodley.

Second teams

Hosts Steeton had Tong Park Esholt reeling on 91-5 in the 32nd over before No 7 Sean Kirkley smashed 107 from 57 balls to almost single-handedly help them to 222 all out.

Pick of the bowlers for the hosts was Callum Lowe, who took 4-37 from 14 overs, in an innings when Steeton’s fielding and catching let them down.

The Summerhill Laners looked doomed to defeat at 64-6 but a 73-run seventh-wicket stand between skipper Luke Watson (33) and veteran Phil Barrett kept them alive. Barrett went on to score an unbeaten 83 from 82 deliveries and took part in a 53-run final-wicket stand with Joe Stead, which brought them to the brink of an unlikely victory but their impressive chase ended one run short on 221-9.

Joe Hunt's 53 was in vain as Silsden were dismissed for just 100 before visitors Alwoodley cruised to an eight-wicket win.

Olicanian bowled Harden out for 134 and knocked the runs off with seven wickets to spare.
