DAVID Brook was the hero for Silsden as they climbed to eighth place in Division Three with a nervy one-wicket win at Bardsey.

The former Burley batsman hit 14 fours and four sixes in making 114 to provide the platform for the Cobbydalers' win as they edged past the hosts' 221-7, Shaun Brentall weighing in with 34.

It looked as if their good work might go to waste when the ninth wicket fell and eight runs were still needed but Matt Shuttleworth and William Pullen saw them over the line.

Zabeeh Ullah was chief destroyer for Silsden, taking 3-46 as Eddie Clayton made 40 for Bardsey.

Steeton climbed out of the Division One relegation zone as they continued their resurgence with a third straight league win.

They beat visitors Pool by five wickets to leapfrog them into third-from-bottom spot.

Half-centuries by Andrew Foulds and Craig Walton saw Steeton overcome Pool's 220-8 in 48.1 overs.

John Akrigg continued his form after a century the previous week, making 37 and sharing a 57-run third wicket stand with Foulds, who top-scored with 52.

Foulds was then part of an excellent fourth-wicket partnership of 70 with Walton, who scored 50 from just 50 deliveries before being caught with the scores level.

Having earlier opted to bat first, Charlie Bell top-scored with 41 for Pool as Steeton skipper Steve Pearson collected 3-62.

Devan Pollock’s 53no was the backbone of Harden’s 125 but they are bottom of Division Two after fellow strugglers Adel overtook them with eight wickets to spare.

Second teams

Silsden completed a double over Bardsey as Robert Jones (49) was their chief contributor in their 139 -9 total.

It proved enough as the visitors had no answer to the bowling of Joe Sugden (6-33) and Kieren Lawrence (3-30) as they stuttered to 100 all out.

Steeton opener Chris Luxton top-scored with 46 as the visitors opted to bat first at Pool.

A mini-collapse was halted by Adil Modak (36) and Gary Boulton (31) but Steeton could still only make 179 all out.

The total proved insufficient as the visitors cruised home with four wickets in hand despite 4-47

from David Wynn.

Harden were put to the sword by Collingham, who made 236-9 before bowling them out for just 62.

Waddilove Cup

Steeton were no match for Division One leaders Beckwithshaw as they crashed out of the second round by eight wickets.

Opting to bat first, the Summerhill Lane hosts were soon struggling at 13-3 before Craig Walton (32)and Tom Stead (28) offered resistance. But from 86-5 they were all out for 106, a total which Beckwithshaw had little trouble passing as Yasar Ali followed up a 4-8 spell with an unbeaten 62.
