HARDEN ended their losing streak in style with a crushing 137-run win at home to Knaresborough in Aire-Wharfe League Division Two.

They had been four games without a win and were in danger of being cut adrift at the bottom but with Paul Quinlan (42) and Matthew Topham (44no) leading the way, they were bowled out for 205.

Openers Tom Cummins (32) and James Roper (27) had earlier set them off to a good start after being put into bat, Tom Stordy also making 29 as Dave Girling took 4-33 for the visitors.

Their total proved more than enough as Phil Leng (5-30) and Matthew Hogg (3-27) skittled out Knaresborough for just 68.

On a rain-interrupted day, it was one of only two positive results in the division, Addingham knocking over promotion favourites Colton in the other match to finish.

Steeton's Division One match at Rawdon was washed out just after the halfway mark.

Ben Heritage (56) and Kuda Samunderu (54) top-scored in the home side's 233-5, which included a three-ball cameo from Andrew Doidge that included two fours and a six.

James Emmott (2-57 off 11 overs) and skipper Steve Pearson (2-51 from 12 overs) were Steeton's chief wicket-takers as Rawdon declared after 44 overs, having reached maximum batting points.

Steeton’s innings was washed out at 9-0 in just the third over of their reply.

Silsden won the toss and batted at home to New Rover in Divison Three, reaching 225-7 declared in the 49th over, captain Chris Meehan (64) and Shaun Brentnall (74) being the main contributors.

New Rover then went for the win as the rain closed in, opener Michael Richmond (55), Matthew Dinsdale (54 in 41 balls) and Michael Shotton (48 in 27 balls) being the pick of the batsmen as they fell five runs short on 221-7 in a drawn game, Manley Du Preez taking 3-51.

Second teams

After his side were put into bat, Steeton opener Matthew Price scored an excellent 65 from 90 deliveries at home to Rawdon, sharing an 86-run third-wicket partnership with Adil Modak (52 from 63 deliveries).

At 132-4, the rain caused a one-and-a-half hour delay and when Steeton returned, they lost wickets chasing quick runs, a slow outfield not helping them.

The hosts declared on 181-7 in 42 overs but the visitors made light work of their target, cruising home for the loss of three wickets in 40.1 overs thanks to Eliot Goldthorp (62) and Callum Murgatroyd (66 no).

Nine-man Harden were bowled out for just 47 at Knaresborough (Tom Baines 3-9), who eased home by seven wickets.

It was a similar struggle for Silsden, who were shot out for 60 in 29 overs at Ben Rhydding, only three players reaching double figures as Danny Bell (3-16) and Andrew Jennings (4-17) did the damage in a nine-wicket win.
