OAKWORTH skipper Bradley Powell seized the day to win a thrilling Upper Airedale Junior Cricket Association's Festival under-13 decider for his team at Sandylands.

They needed 11 runs from the last over to defeat Cullingworth, and the equation became nine off the last three balls.

However, Powell then hooked a delivery for six and hit the next ball for four to give his side the trophy.

Cullingworth had earlier posted 52, led by Kyle Welsh, with Powell taking two wickets.

Oakworth started their reply in fine style but lost three wickets on the way to the last over before Powe1l took charge.

While Oakworth had proved irresistible in their group at 'Lord's', winning all their games in style, Cullingworth were involved in a triple bowl-out at 'The Oval' with Skipton and Steeton.

However, only Cullingworth's Jacob Terry hit the stumps to send them through to face Oakworth.

Runners-up at 'Lord's' were Bradford & Bingley, with Sutton fourth.

At under-nine level, Oakworth were fourth and Steeton sixth, while in the under-11s, holders Oakworth were runners-up to Earby, while Cullingworth were fourth and Oakworth B fifth in the 'Headingley' group, and Oxenhope fifth in the 'Old Trafford' group.

The raffle for Yorkshire Cancer Research raised £200.
