KEIGHLEY had double reason to celebrate last weekend, gaining their first league win of the season before booking their place in the semi-finals of the Jack Hampshire Cup.

On Saturday, they broke their duck in Championship A with a 77-run victory at home to Saltaire.

Skipper Alex Towler (3-26) and Maaiz Khan (3-9 off six overs) helped dismiss the visitors for 96 when they replied to Keighley's total of 173-8 off 35 overs.

Tanzeel Altaf (36) top-scored for Saltaire but the Roberts Park side fell well short in the rain-affected match.

Earlier in the day, the main contributor with the bat for Keighley was Ben Hastie (33). He put on 60 with Andy Wear for the opening wicket but the Lawkholme Laners looked up against it at 108-6.

However, contributions down the order from Sam Murphy (21) and Towler (23no) ensured Keighley's tail wagged.

On Sunday, Towler's men reached the last four of the Jack Hampshire Cup thanks to a narrow victory at East Ardsley.

Hammy Shahzad was the star man for Keighley with bat and ball. He top-scored with 42 as the visitors posted a 40-over score of 199 all out, Wear weighing in with 39.

Conference side East Ardsley came close to their target but fell just short on 192-9, Shahzad the chief destroyer with 4-43 as James Rogers (2-29) and Matthew Haines (2-25) provided back-up.

Keighley will travel to Buttershaw St Paul's in the semi-finals on July 17, with Adwalton hosting Ossett in the other last-four tie.

They head to Liversedge in the league on Saturday, when victory would see them leapfrog their hosts, who are just five points above them.

Bradford & Bingley II won the Aire Valley derby as they eased home by four wickets against Keighley II. George Heartfield took 3-29 as Keighley II were restricted to 126-8, Ryan Sumner making 34.

The hosts reached their target with 5.3 overs to spare, with Vishal Shaw making 30. Rory Robinson took 3-11 for Keighley II, who conceded their Wheatley Cup tie against Crossbank Methodists the following day.

Keighley II host Brighouse II on Saturday.
