INGROW ST JOHN'S lifted the Manorlands Plate after they overcame holders and 2015 Craven League champions Oakworth in an exciting run chase.

The Saints got home by seven wickets with just four balls left, having needed more than ten an over at the halfway stage of their innings to pass their hosts' total of 142-8.

Opener Immy Zaman held things together with 47no, helped by Habib Aslam (36) and a quickfire 30no from Nadeem Safdar.

Joel Gallagher had earlier made 36 for Oaks as they posted a challenging 20-over total, with Sarum Quereshi taking 3-16.

St John’s, who were last season's Division One runners-up, beat Wynn Cup holders Bingley Congs by 57 runs in the semi-finals of the event which is held to raise money for Oxenhope-based Manorlands Hospice, the Craven League's chosen charity.

Saints scored a formidable 170-5, led by Fahid Ali (52no) Ronnie Chokununga (48) and Imran Zaman (42) as Matthew Brian claimed 2-15 off four overs. The Beckfoot Lane side replied with 118-9 (Tony Leighton 32, Azeem Hussain 3-21).

Denholme posted 108-9 against Oakworth in the other semi-final. Toby Priestley (42) and Matt Wear (34) were their leading run-scorers as Gareth Marshall claimed 3-6 off four miserly overs and Richard Cavender bagged 2-24.

The Cure Hill side romped home by four wickets, with Robert Hollingsworth to the fore with 32 as Priestley took 2-11 and Wear 2-17.

Fixture secretary Trevor Coe thanked Oakworth for their tremendous efforts in running the event.

While the amount raised for Manorlands is not yet known, it was announced that Ingrow St John’s sponsor, The Taylor Partnership, were donating £1000 for which Mark Taylor, who was at the game, was warmly thanked.

The trophy was presented to winning captain Wasim Hussain by league secretary Ann Coe.
