AIREDALE notched the highest score of the day in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

They made 240-3 in their Division Two derby at Ingrow before declaring in the 40th over, the chief contributors being Mathew Cox (86), Warren Coppack (47no) and Nick Ahad (46).

However, the hosts had only reached 55-3 when rain stopped play.

Wilsden needed to win their top-of-the-table clash against Hepworth & Idle, and bowled the hosts out for 145, Stuart Wilson taking 4-39.

Adil Mehmood then scored an unbeaten 35 but lacked support, and the visitors were dismissed for 127, leaving the Bradford club seven points clear and Wilsden in third after Haworth Road Meths II gained a point from a wash-out at Bradley.

Ingrow St John’s II did Wilsden a favour, however, by defeating Barrowford, who would have gone second with a win, by three wickets.

In Division Three, Long Lee emerged from their sticky patch with a six-wicket win at leaders Cononley to put themselves back in the promotion picture.

The home side made 151-7, Harry Parker scoring 56 not out and Herbie Starkey 48 as Matt Taylor claimed 4-30. Paul Stowell led the victory charge with 60 to put his side into second.

Sandy Lane slipped to third after a surprising 77-run defeat at Riddlesden. The Grange Road side built on a first-wicket partnership of 126 by John Pinkerton (64) and Mohammad Qadeer (61) in their 221-8.

Three players scored 27 for the Greenwood Park side, who were back in the hut for 144 as Danny Kernan took 3-47.

Tony Teale (69) and Steve Carass (6-33) starred for Bingley Congs II in their derby win over Bradford & Bingley III.
