CROSSFLATTS clinched the Division One championship after they saw off Bingley Congs by 17 runs in their top-of-the-table clash.

They batted first and made a moderate 137 in 41.2 overs with skipper Dominic Bennett top scoring with 30 as Harry Greenhalgh claimed 6-45.

Congs were strangely out of sorts as they closed on 120 with only Tony Leighton (40) offering much resistance.

The bowling trio of Jim O’Hara (3-16) Qamar Ayub (3-30) and Alex Bradbury

(3-38) kept a tight hold on proceedings.

Embsay third spot after seeing off Haworth by 40 runs in a low-scoring game at Shires Lane.

Damian Rowell bowled a miserly spell of 6-19 as the home side were knocked over for 95, with Arslam Hussain making 36.

Haworth were never in the hunt and succumbed for 55 as Elliot Stockton (3-4) Scott Robinson (3-11) and Sam Arkwright (3-20) did the damage.

After their disastrous start to the season Oakworth have bounced back and lie a point behind Embsay.

They crushed already relegated Foulridge by eight wickets at Cure Hill in a game that lasted just 25 overs.

Andy Makin (11no) was the top scorer for the visitors as they were shot out for a paltry 36. The innings contained five ducks as Ben Howell (5-7) and Michael Scarborough (3-12) wreaked havoc.

There was a high-scoring game at Denholme where visitors Sutton posted 199-9 with skipper Craig Thornton make 67. Toby Priestley 3-33 and Matt Wear 3-38 were the best bowlers. They also had success with the bat as Priestley (79) and Wear (68) led their side to victory.

Ingrow St John’s and Riddlesden figured in a nailbiter at Street Lane. The Grange Road side made 93 in their innings with Mohammad Shahnawaz top scoring with 38 as Deepal Dissanayke took 7-46 and Wasim Hussain (3-46).

The Saints were struggling at 77-9 before Sarum Qureshi and Dissanayke both scored 13no to get their side over the line as Zahir Abbas finished with 4-29.

Haworth Road’s visit to the Coliseum saw them beat their hosts by 164 runs and so condemn Cowling to Division Two.

Mohammad Zahid (76), Will Burgess (37) and Paul Rodwell (31) helped the Baildon Bottom side to 210. The home side were dispatched for a paltry 46 with Andy Maude taking 5-16 and Rob Greenwood (4-28).

The Division Two Champions Hepworth & Idle continued their winning ways by seeing off Oakworth II by four wickets. The Cure Hill made 144 with Sam Nettleton scoring 45 and Joe Copperwaite (38).

The other promotion spot is up for grabs. Barrowford are second, on run rate, after beating Glusburn by two wickets. The Park Field side made 133 with Neil Freeman (51) and Steve Brown (48) leading the way, but Barrowford overhauled their total.

In third spot, level on points with Barrowford, are Wilsden. They saw off Ingrow St John’s II by three wickets at Windy Grove. The Saints made 196 with Arshad Mahmood scoring 55 and Abdul Dyan Qazi (51) as Sam Mitchell claimed 4-37. Steve Wright (89no) and Glen Stableford (46) were the backbone of the successful chase.

Haworth Road II, who can’t be promoted, are fourth, also level on points with Barrowford. They picked up 3 points when Thornton conceded their game. The West Craven side slip into the bottom two.

Chatburn picked up 3 points after an easy victory over Airedale in the Ribble Valley.

Tom Quinn (71no) and Richard Shovelton (39) helped the home sides to 187-9 in their overs. Then Andy Booth (5-12) and Chris Mulhearn (3-5) had the Keighley side back in the hut for a paltry 47.

Bradley’s battle against relegation suffered a blow when they lost by two runs at home to Ingrow. Jake Hoyle took 6-38 for the winners.
