UPPER Airedale Junior Cricket Association's (UAJCA) under-11 team were feted at the league's annual presentation night at Skipton's Rendezvous Hotel.

The squad, who as under-tens won the Cricket Asylum Plate in 2015 – the league's first county trophy – followed that up by reaching the Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival final this summer, losing to a strong North Yorkshire side at Scotton.

The under-11s were re-presented with their medals by Yorkshire second-team all-rounder Jordan Thompson.

As usual, the winners of the five Cricketer of the Year awards were a closely guarded secret but Oakworth picked up the under-11 (Lewis Brown) and under-13 (Bilaal Khan) prizes, while under-13 Lily Bell (Bradley) was a clear winner of the female cricketer of the year trophy, thus retaining her silverware.

Lewis captained the UAJCA under-11s, and also dominated the bowling in his age group, his batting culminating with his 53 against Cumbria, while Bilaal started the campaign with a six-wicket haul against Earby, but also scored sufficient runs to hold off clubmate Bradley Powell.

Wicket-keeper Harris Rowlett (Steeton) won the Tom Barritt Memorial Trophy for under-15s.

Awards were also handed out for performances for the five UAJCA representative teams, decided by the team managers, and James Powell (Oakworth) and Charlie Jackson (Cullingworth) won the respective under-ten batting and bowling awards.

Captain Lewis Brown (Oakworth) took an under-11 award, while Jack Luxton (Steeton) was the under-12s' Merit winner, Shiv Bhatoa (Oxenhope) taking the under-13 batting and Merit awards.

Euan Johnston (Steeton) lifted the bowling prize, while under-15 winners included Bradley's Elliott Wilson (batting) and Steeton's Adil Modak (Merit).

Awards were also handed out for cricketing skills, with fielding prizes going to Elliot Robinson (Cullingworth, under-11s), Bradley Powell (Oakworth, u-13s) and Adil Modak (Steeton, u-15s).

Top glovemen awards went to Jacob Stephens (Cullingworth, u-11s), Ben Riddiough (Sutton Vikings, u-13s), Harris Rowlett (Steeton, u-15s) and Matthew Gill (Silsden, u-17s), while Bilaal Khan (Oakworth, u-13s) and Robbie Carling (Oxenhope, u-15s) were handed bowling prizes.

Batsmen to shine in a season of mixed weather and variable wickets included Connor Ferguson (Cullingworth, u-11s), Harris Rowlett (Steeton, u-15s) and Bilal Hamid (Wilsden, u-17s).

In a season when the UAJCA had a record 12 county players and 14 at district level, Oakworth won the league's under-11 Barritt-Stephenson cup for a seventh time in 15 years, but they were put in the shade by their under-13 team, who not only won the Brook Taverner League, but also the Festival Plate and the John Hindle Memorial Cup.

Steeton retained the Pro Coach Academy League for under-15s, but lost a rain-interrupted Raleigh Hargreaves Cup final to Skipton.

The Summerhill Lane club also won the under-17 South Conference, but Wilsden defeated Oxenhope for the William Spencer Memorial Cup at Denholme.
