SILSDEN have been handed one of the shortest straws in the first round of the Aire-Wharfe League's Waddilove Cup on Sunday, May 14.

The Division Three club, who only finished above the departed Upper Wharfedale in the 2016 table, have been drawn at holders Otley, who were also league runners-up this season and cup semi-finalists in 2015.

The draw hasn't been kind to Steeton, relegated from the top flight this season, either as they must also travel – to Division One Horsforth, but at least Division Two Skipton are at Division Three Bardsey.

There are three all-Division One ties, with Rawdon visiting Colton, Pool travelling to Collingham and, in what is probably the tie of the round, league champions Beckwithshaw being at home to 2016 semi-finalists North Leeds.

Waddilove Cup – First-round draw (ties to be played on Sunday, May 14): Otley v Silsden, Olicanian v Green Lane, Beckwithshaw v North Leeds, Guiseley v Harden, Menston v Thackley, Tong Park Esholt v Follifoot, Bardsey v Skipton, St Chad's Broomfield v Kirkstall Educational, Bilton v Ben Rhydding, Colton v Rawdon, Ilkley v Adel, Horsforth v Steeton, Bolton Villas v Saltaire, Addingham v Horsforth Hall Park, Collingham v Pool, Burley v Leeds Modernians.

The Birtwhistle draw is the reverse of the Waddilove Cup except that Silsden, Harden, Bardsey, Colton and Bolton Villas have exercised their right to opt out.

In the Ian Chappell Cup for third teams, Steeton host holders Rawdon, while 2016 runners-up Horsforth have a bye.
