LEWIS Hopkinson made a timely century for Oxenhope in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League Premier Division.

The match against Queensbury was the first opportunity for a remembrance tribute to his father Darren since the former skipper died from cancer last September aged 48, and the youngster produced a knock that his dad would have been proud of.

Lewis made 127 not out, adding 120 for the second wicket with Craig Bartlett (75). and Joe Ousey weighed in with 51 not out in their 308-4.

Below-par Queensbury were then restricted to 193-7 as Liam Dyson claimed 4-70 and Scott Mallinson 3-49.

Saeed Mirza, the fifth bowler used by Jer Lane, turned up trumps with 6-73 as visitors Warley collapsed from 90-1 to 197.

Opener Raqeeb Younas dominated the reply with 101 not out as Jer triumphed by six wickets in 37.3 overs.

Sowerby St Peter's' return to the top flight was less than auspicious as they fell easily at Thornton, where Ross Carnall's 70 set the standard for an all-round team performance.

Northowram Hedge Top found it hard going at Mytholmroyd as Amjid Azam (6-24) reduced the visitors to 19-7 before Nazim Irshad hit a cavalier 48 to add a little respectability.

The home side needed less than 17 overs to gain the 12 points.

There was little joy for Bradford clubs in the First Division, with promoted Shelf being ripped apart by Blackley's Jacob Linsel (6-46) and Chris White (4-49) in a seven-wicket defeat, while that was also the margin for Great Horton Park Chapel, who made 129 against Sowerby Bridge.

Cullingworth (106, Ben Burkill 43, Chris Welch 41 and 3-49) were beaten by 61 runs as Chris Kebble made 70 for Bridgeholme.

Low Moor HT were not alone in being victims of league newcomers in the Second Division.

They had hosts Mount at 112-5, only to be punished by No 6 Zahoor Munaf, whose 140 included 12 sixes and 12 fours.

Mount ended up on 269, Low Moor ending up 119 runs short, despite 64 from Bradley Williamson and 51 from James Overend.

There was no better news from Clayton, who were castled for 69 after Upper Hopton had made 261 (Joe Selby 4-100), Andrew Gallagher's 76 alone being enough.
