OXENHOPE suffered their first defeat of the season, going down by 54 runs at home to Sowerby St Peters in a high-scoring Halifax League Premier Division game.
The visitors were soon in trouble at 17-3 with Joel Fothergill (2) and Scott Mallinson taking the wickets. But two superb knocks from Aiden Green (120) and Hayden Bruce (119no) in a 195-run stand for the fifth wicket saw Saints to a formidable 315-5.
In reply Oxenhope were soon in trouble at 12-3 but a century stand between Liam Dyson (40) and Jack Barker (61) led the fightback. There were solid knocks from Joe Ousey (39), Josh Tetley (27) and Duncan Tetley (27no) but nobody went on to make a big score as the Worth Valley side felt short on 261-9.
There was better news for Cullingworth in Division One as they thrashed hosts Southowram by 102 runs.
The visitors racked up 278-3 as Ben Burkill made 110 and Steve Welch 118 before the home side were dismissed for 175.
