OXENHOPE beat the showers to claim a seven-wicket victory at home to Copley in the Halifax League Premier Division.

The visitors were put in to bat and, after a couple of breaks due to rain, the game was reduced to 30 overs each.

Copley had no answer to young seamer Joel Fothergill, who returned impressive figures of 5-30. Robin Cusdin claimed the other three wickets as Copley closed on 132-8.

In reply, and with the threat of rain, Josh Fleetwood (66) and Craig Bartlett (51no) smashed the ball to all parts of the ground and the target was reached from only 16.3 overs to claim 11 points.

Cullingworth lost by seven wickets at Blackley in Division One in another reduced overs match.

The visitors made 162-4 off 26 overs as Ben Burkill (46) and Jon Terry (39) were to the fore.

But the total was not enough as Macaulay Shiel (62no) and Jonathan Stenson (59) saw the hosts home in 25.3 overs.
