OSSETT pulled off one of the surprise results of the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League season as they belied their lowly position by inflicting a first defeat of the Championship Division One season on Wrenthorpe.

They chased down Wrenthorpe's 246-8 with three balls to spare after half-centuries from Javed Umarji (69) and Zubair Raje (53) had given them early impetus.

Paul Malone's 36 was timely as Ossett recorded their best win of the season.

Wrenthorpe had built their total around 72 from the consistent Luke Patel and 67 from James Glynn as they came up against an Ossett attack boosted by the performance of overseas spinner Khalid Usman (5-41).

The result enabled Methley to leapfrog Wrenthorpe into second place after they defeated Bowling Old Lane by 22 runs - but not before a scare.

Old Lane opener Farakh Hussain blasted 100 from just 79 balls, smashing nine sixes and eight fours as he gave his side's reply to Methley's 253-7 a ferocious start.

Bilal Ejaz also chipped in with 61 not out before Old Lane were dismissed for 231.

The Methley match winner was teenager Josh Sullivan, who took 5-27.

Skipper Grant Soames (65) and Eddie Walmsley (44no) were the main contributors for Methley.

There's no stopping leaders Scholes, however.

They recorded their seventh win when they defeated promotion rivals Undercliffe by 106 runs.

Opener Shoukat Ali again got his side off to a good start with 69, and Yassir Ali capitalised on his good work with an unbeaten 55.

With skipper James Stansfield making 38, Scholes were able to register 211-8, despite some fine seam bowling from Zeeshan Qasim (6-39).

Undercliffe's reply was disappointing, with Gulsheraz Ahmed top-scoring with 30 as they were bowled out for 105. Gareth Lee picked up 4-13 for Scholes.

Half-centuries from James McNichol (65) and Richard Jubb (51) enabled fourth-placed Morley to secure a five-wicket win over rock-bottom Birstall.

The Scatcherd Lane side got home with 14 balls to spare after earlier bowling out their near-neighbours for 165.

Skipper Oliver Halliday (4-41) and Nathan Bromby (3-46) were the key bowlers for Morley, while Siraj Hussain top- scored with 44 for Birstall.

Yeadon opener Jake Wray smashed an unbeaten 98 from 79 balls to propel his side to an emphatic nine-wicket win over Bankfoot.

Wray hit three sixes and 15 fours as he led his side's victory charge.

Fellow opener James Todd contributed 36 to a first-wicket stand of 129, which took their side within touching distance of Bankfoot's 138.

Spinner Mohammad Altaf (5-47) and Michael Hunter (4-36) had earlier performed well with the ball as Bankfoot's batsmen struggled.

Gomersal skipper Graham Hilton led from the front as his side defeated Baildon by eight runs in a close encounter at Oxford Road.

Opener Hilton made 75 to help Gomersal to 161, with Baildon captain Simon Bailey (3-57) and Mushtaq Ahmed (3-4) the pick of the Baildon bowlers.

The Baildon reply was dominated by Jonny Reynolds, who made a determined 65 not out but lacked effective support as James Russell (4-46) and Chris Rhodes (3-29) secured victory for the home side.
